Unavoidable Rivalry

Months have passed since the ordeal of Audrey trying to rip me and Gab apart. Everyone has moved on, and once again the household is living happily and is what it is before all that.

Naging mas sweet na kami ni Gab sa isa't isa and we've been trying to enjoy every single bit of moment being together.

As expected, Aaron has prevented me from getting fired and I got back to work and we've heard news of Gideon coming back next year. Everything was falling to place... or so I thought...

At work

As usual, every time I'm headed home I'm always accompanied by Aaron and we get to talk about stuff on our way and usually, he's always asking about me and Gab.

Aaron: Funny thing about your boyfriend is that he loves you but doesn't even ask about how your day is going at work. I mean, does he even care about that?

Akhi: Aaron, we trust each other so much that we don't need to constantly check on each other especially when it comes to work.

Aaron: Oh really?

Then Aaron grabbed my shoulders and forced me to face him.

Aaron: Okay, What if gusto kitang halikan? talaga bang panatag lang sya?

Akhi: Aaron teka nga lang! You're hurting me! Stop this!

Aaron: No I won't! Stop acting like you don't know how I feel about you!

Akhi: Let go of me! What do you mean?

Aaron: Akhi, I think by now you should know that I'm doing these favors for you para mapansin mo ko at kahit papano maramdaman mo na gusto kita.

Akhi: Alam mo namang may boyfriend ako diba?

Aaron: Yes I know and I am so sick and tired of hearing you say that!

Then napatingin nalang ako kay Aaron. We are at the corner of a street three blocks away from home. Aaron quickly leaned closer and kissed me forcefully. I was struggling to break from it.

Akhi: Stop it!

I pushed him hard enough to make him fall back. Then biglang dumating si Gab from the other corner of the street.

Gab: What's going on here?

Napatingin nalang kami pareho kay Gab.

Akhi: It's nothing. We're just having a little argument about work.

Then Gab looked at Aaron looking confused. Aaron was looking back at him in an angry expression.

Akhi: Uh... What are you doing here anyway?

Gab: Oh! I decided to come and pick you up. I was getting bored.

Akhi: I see...

Then Aaron turned to look at me and said

Aaron: We're not done here. I'll see you at work.

Then he stormed off.

Gab: Bakit parang galit na galit sa'yo yun?

Akhi: *Nervous tone* Uh it's nothing. Tomorrow it'll be settled.

Nagkibit balikat nalang si Gab and then inakbayan ako at sabay na kaming naglakad pauwi.

At our apartment

Rocel is in front of the bathroom

Rocel: Harold!!! How many times do I have to tell you na wag kang papasok sa bahay na soot ang tsinelas mo mula sa labas?

Then he suddenly came out of the bathroom

Harold: And how many times do I have to explain to you that I'm gonna clean it up just as soon as I finished bathing?

Nakatapis lang sya and he's still a bit wet. Every afternoon, Harold does some gardening at a small, empty lot at the back of our apartment and just as he finishes, ang routine nya ay maligo.

Rocel: Why does it always have to be after mong maligo? Pwede namang bago ka maligo diba? Para hindi naman nakakahiya sakin. Ako yung naglilinis lagi ng sahig natin dito!

Harold: Are you just looking for an excuse so you could see me half naked? You know you could just tell me.

Rocel: Hoy unggoy! Never in my wildest dreams!

Harold: Hahaha suit yourself. Ako na nga nagmamagandang loob eh. *whispers* pakipot ka pa.

Then he walked pass Rocel

Rocel: Anung sinabi mo?

Harold: Wala. Sabi ko, ang ganda mo ngayong hapon.

Sabay kurot sa baba ni Rocel.

Rocel: Tigil tigilan mo ko ha kung ayaw mong mabali yang kamay mo.

Rocel grabbed his hand and twisted it.

Harold: Aray!!! Oh sige na sige na! Nagbibiro lang naman eh!

Just then nakarating na kami ni Gab sa bahay. Pagbukas namin ng pinto, yun ang eksenang naabutan namin.

Gab: Are you guys fighting again?

Akhi: Seriously, wala na ba kaming ibang madadatnan sa inyo?

Rocel: Don't blame me. Blame this big oaf for being such a f*cking tease!

Nakayakap sakin si Gab and then he looked at me.

Gab: Why does it sound so familiar?

Akhi: You know Ross, this is exactly how Gab and I started out.

Harold: Oh! haha. I don't mind...

Inirapan ni Rocel si Harold and then she stepped hard on his foot.

Harold: Ouch!

Rocel: Jan na nga kayo! Magkampi kampihan ba? Che!

Then she walked out.

Gab: Dude, seriously... You should ask her out.

Harold: That's kind of impossible. She would never go out with me.

Then umalis na sya papunta sa kwarto nya. kami naman ni Gab ay nagtinginan nalang at dumiretso papunta sa kwarto namin.

After cooking, I called everyone for dinner. While we're eating on the table, Harold was constantly checking on his phone at ngumingiti ngiti pa. Then Rocel saw that.

Rocel: Sino naman yan at nakilig kilig ka jan? Hindi maganda yang ginagawa mo.

Harold: *talking casually with mouth slightly full* Anu namang hindi maganda sa ginagawa ko?

Rocel: Ala'y nagtanong pa? Syempre you're in front of the food. Baka gusto mong ubusin muna yung pagkain bago yan?

Harold just laughed and continued texting in his phone ignoring Rocel.

Akhi: *whispers* Hayaan mo na Ross... Inspired lang yan.

Inirapan nalang ni Rocel si Harold and then we all continued eating. Later that evening nag aya si Gab kay Harold na mag inuman sa "Night Rounds Bar". The usual place where they go kapag sila lang dalawa ang lumalabas.

At the bar

Gab: So sino naman ang ka text mo kanina? Parang ang saya mo ha?

Harold: Ah. Client ko sa gym. Gandang babae pare. She keeps on texting me lately and you know, I think she's flirting with me.

Gab: Ah... Okay...

After a few rounds

Gab: Alam mo ang tagal na nating magkakaibigan nila Rocel. Pansin ko, parati mo syang inaasar.

Harold: Sarap kase nyang asarin tol lalo na kapag napipikon sya. Lalo syang gumaganda. Hahaha

Gab: Mmmm... Kahit kelan ba di ka nagkagusto kay Ross?

Then Harold paused for a moment looking at the bottle of beer he's been holding and then he sighed.

Harold: Sino bang di magkakagusto kay Rocel tol? Maganda, magaling kumanta at ang cute pa nya magsungit. Unang beses ko palang syang nakita, crush ko na agad sya.

Gab: Ha! Sabi ko na nga ba. Eh bakit di mo pa ligawan?

Harold: Hahaha. Kung ikaw nga hindi umubra sa kanya, ako pa kaya? Walang pag asa tol. Pangarap lang 'to.

Gab: Sabagay laki nga naman ng lamang ko sa'yo.

Harold: Ba! Lamang ka lang ng limang paligo.

Gab: Hahaha mahina ka pre. Di mo pa nga sinusubukan suko ka na agad?

Harold: Mas okay na yung ganito. Magkaibigan lang para hindi awkward tapos pwede ko syang asarin araw araw. Besides, there's another pretty woman who wants my attention.

Gab: Well hehe That being said, this is all your decision to make. I'm just here to support you buddy.

At home

I was watching TV in the living room then Rocel joined me.

Rocel: Akhi, may nabanggit ba si Harold na may nililigawan sya?

Akhi: No. Not that I know of.

Rocel: Do you think kanina he was texting a girl? He seems to be so happy na nag tetext. Kinikilig kilig pa.

Akhi: hmmmm... Well masasabi ko lang, if I was the one acting like that, malamang sa malamang. Anyway, why are you asking?

Rocel: Nothing. I'm just curious.

Then we sat there for a while watching the TV without talking.

Rocel: Can you come with me to the store? Parang gusto ko mag tequila. Samahan mo kong bumili.

Akhi: Oh okay. Tara. I kind of wanna have a drink din. It's been crazy today.

Rocel: What do you mean?

Akhi: You remember my workmate Aaron?

Rocel: Yes. What about him?

Akhi: I'll tell you later pag uwi natin.

Then we both went outside to go to a convenient store.

Back at the bar

Gab: Pare alam mo, hindi maganda pakiramdam ko sa katrabaho ni Akhi. Yung Aaron?

Harold: Bakit naman?

Gab: Kahapon kase, when they were on the way home, nagkaron daw sila ng argument. Akhi said it wasn't a serious matter pero galit yung Aaron.

Harold: Ahh... Nagseselos ka?

Gab: Hindi naman sa ganon. May tiwala ako kay Akhi na hindi nya ako lolokohin. Takot lang nyang mawalan ng gwapong boyfriend na gaya ko.

Harold: Tara na nga! Uwian na. May nanalo na eh!

Gab: Haha! Gago!

Then they laughed and decided to go home.

*At the convenient store with Rocel*

She was picking up a bottle of tequila at ako naman ay kumukuha ng chips when suddenly, Aaron entered the store. I didn't see him coming kaya nagkabanggaan kaming dalawa.

Akhi: Oww! I'm so sorr... Aaron?

Aaron: Akhi...

Then tinitigan nya ako. I can tell he's kinda drunk sa pananalita at amoy ng bibig nya. Bigla nya akong niyakap.

Aaron: Let's talk Akhi.

Akhi: What the hell Aaron?!

Then I pushed him away. Nagtaas ng boses si Aaron at binulyawan ako.

Aaron: Bakit ba ayaw mo sakin ha?! Pangit ba ako?! Hindi naman ah?! Mas gwapo pa ako sa boyfriend mo!

Hindi lang kami ang nasa convenient store that time. May mga ibang customers pang nandodoon at napatingin sila samin pati narin ang cashier and staff then I felt so embarrassed at nag walkout ako papalabas at sumunod naman si Aaron. Dali daling nagbayad si Rocel at sinundan din kami.

Aaron: Akhi! Wag mo kong talikuran. Bakit ba ayaw mong makipag usap?!

Akhi: Aaron naman! Jusko! Anu pa bang pag uusapan natin?

Aaron: Bakit ba kase ayaw mong tanggapin ang nararamdaman ko para sa'yo?!

Akhi: Ilang beses ko bang sasabihin sa'yo na may boyfriend na ako?! Mahirap ba intindihin yon?!

Aaron: Bullshit!!! F*ck! I am better than him and I can do better than him! In fact, I am a very good kisser.

Then once again, he forced a kiss on me. I was struggling real hard to break from it but his grip on my arms is so strong. When I finally pushed him away, I saw Gab and Harold right behind him. Si Rocel naman ay nasa likod nila.

Akhi: Gab?! Let me explain!

Gab gestured for me to stop talking

Gab: Don't worry. You don't need to explain. I heard everything.

Then kalmado syang lumapit kay Aaron but just when he got near him, he gave him a jab straight to the face. Na shock kaming lahat. Natumba si Aaron sa pagkaka suntok ni Gab.

Gab: Next time na halikan mo pa ulit ang partner ko, hindi lang yan ang aabutin mo!

Then tumayo si Aaron at lumapit kay Gab wiping the blood from his mouth with his hand at tinitigan sya mata sa mata. Before an imminent brawl inawat na namin silang dalawa ni Gab. Si Harold nakahawak kay Gab, ako naman kay Aaron.

Aaron: Maghihiwalay din kayong dalawa!

Then he turned to walk away at binitiwan ko na sya. Dali dali akong lumapit kay Gab at niyakap nya ako.

Gab: Tarantado pala yang katrabaho mo eh! Sa susunod ayaw ko nang magkasabay kayong umuuwi ha?! Susunduin na kita araw araw.

Akhi: Okay... I'm sorry.

Habang magkayakap kami ni Gab nagtama naman ang tingin ni Harold at Rocel. Harold smiled at her pero sinungitan lang sya nito. We all got home pero di na namin tinuloy ni Rocel ang pag iinom. Dumiretso na kami lahat sa mga kwarto namin because it was already late.
